Several years ago, we received several inquiries from hobbyists who wanted a reasonably priced handpiece that they could use for egg carving, glass engraving, & wood carving. Some were beginners and others into production work. To meet their needs, we developed the TURBO TEK handpiece for beginners and matched the production workers with the DENTAL LAB HIGHSPEED handpieces which can better handle the demand of production pieces. Even though you may choose to start with the Turbo Tek, and then progress to the dental lab handpieces, the Turbo Tek will always compliment the lab handpieces, as it does have more torque for fine work. The DENTAL LAB SLOWSPEED and ELECTRIC handpieces are great for gross reduction, but are more expensive. All handpieces we present to you will be REPAIRABLE with parts readily available from the manufacturers. Turbo Tek | Hobbyist Handpiece The Turbo Tek is a highspeed handpiece manufactured exclusively by Handpiece Specialists. It is designed for the intricate work required for egg carving, wood carving and glass engraving. It can also be used for engraving bone, metal & rock. It is very light weight (approximately 4 oz.) with 100% American made components. The Turbo Tek is designed to be user friendly, especially for the beginner. It can be completely disassembled for cleaning or replacing parts. The heart of this handpiece is a FIELD REPLACEABLE TURBINE cartridge which eliminates down time. The worn turbine can be easily removed and replaced. Like most equipment, this handpiece does require some maintenance. Because of the simplicity of the handpiece, time for maintenance is minimal. The Turbo Tek Handpiece sells for $240. The REPLACEABLE TURBINE retails for $70. The handpiece has a 1 yr. warranty while the turbines have a 60 day warranty. System requirements to operate this handpiece, is at least one horse power compressor with 40 PSI air pressure at one CFM (cubic feet per minute). Dental Lab Highspeeds These systems consist of a handpiece, foot control and either separately or in combination, an air regulator and autoluber. These systems usually run between $550 and $600. On an average, they require approximately 45 PSI. The turbines for these handpieces are repairable. Bearing replacements are $65. The average cost for a new turbine is approximately $140. Dental Electrics Consists of a handpiece, foot control and power supply. These systems, of course, are the most expensive. The range of prices can be between $400 - $1, 500 and up. An average repair cost is around $80. Repairs for the foot controls and power supplies are also available. We recommend you request our free estimate. Used Dental/Lab Handpieces As our main business is repairing dental/dental lab handpieces, we often have used handpieces available. Dental highspeed handpieces have alot of torque and are easily repairable. If you require a water spray handpiece, a used dental handpiece would be ideal and inexpensive.
